Rusalca project representatives visited the “Arctic – is the dialogue’s territory” forum 22 of september.

Today in Moscow the international Arctic forum «The Arctic - Territory of Dialogue» was opened.

On Monday at press conference organizers of the forum have declared the basic themes of the event. According to the deputy of the State Duma Artur Chilingarov, modern problems of the Arctic in the aspect of the national interests and the international dialogue, as well as the environment protection of the region and Arctic natural resources use and management became the basic themes of the forum.

Within the framework of the forum the project RUSALCA lead by the Group "Alliance" LLC and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) was presented.

The RUSALCA project is carried out by the Group Alliance LLC since 2003 under the cooperation agreement with NOAA (USA National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) with the financial support of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS) and within the frames of the Memorandum of Understanding between RAS and NOAA signed in 2003. The project is supported by the Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Monitoring of the Environment of Russia (ROSHYDROMET) under the Memorandum of Understanding between ROSHYDROMET and NOAA signed in 2005.

Project overall objective – carrying out the research for the better understanding of the causes and effects of the climatic change in the Pacific sector of Arctic ocean.

«The RUSALCA project objectives to large extend coincide with the agenda of the today's forum. – the general director of the Group "Alliance" LLC professor Vitaly Keondjian has told. – Analysis of the dada which are collected during the RUSALCA project regular scientific expeditions, can and should be useful for the better understanding and solving of the modern problems of the Arctic region. Therefore we are glad, that it is the current forum where the RUSALCA project will be presented to the public at large ».

MSU rector Victor Sadovnichy speaking at the forum noticed that studying of the Arctic now is necessary for the possibility of the further dialogue between the countries of the Arctic region.
